University of Washington Tacoma Asian Pacific Islander Student Union (APISU)

I joined APISU, a student organization, during my freshmen year as a member, but soon went up the leadership board. By my second year, I was APISU’s Events and Marketing Coordinator where I organized and planned our quarterly events, and created our marketing materials and advertisements, as seen below.

For my last two years of university, I was APISU’s Co-President. In this position, I continued building relationships with individuals and groups on and off campus. This gave us the opportunity to attend API educational events such as ASPIRE, UPRISE, and PISACON, lead educational, cultural, and professional workshops afterschool across Pierce and King County, and bring professionals on campus. Although APISU was one of the smallest student organization groups on campus, we held the largest student-led events at UW Tacoma, bringing students, faculty, staff, and community members together each quarter.

Handbills

This is one of the handbills that was given to students during Involvement Fair, which took place every quarter to inform students about clubs across campus, or to advertise APISU’s upcoming events. This also provided information on how to stay connected with APISU.

Flyers

I created flyers, such as the one above, and posted them across campus to promote our events. Bi-weekly reminders would be posted 2 weeks in advance, whereas larger events were posted 2 months prior.

Social Media

Facebook and Instagram were our primary social media platforms, where information was posted in a similar schedule to the flyers.  This included event and meeting announcements and reminders, pictures of previous events and details of upcoming events.
